Adoption fees vary on individual horses- this is based on
training, special needs, and cost incurred to rescue each
animal.
To apply to adopt a horse there must be a clean history of
neglect of animals, failure to provide vet care or lack of
training, this includes both site location, caregivers , and party
applying. There must also be a willingness to work with
rescue personal and recommended professionals. You must
provide 3 personal references and a vet and farrier reference
that are current.
Once approved then there will be an adoption fee charged and
paid per animal. All required out of state paperwork and
shipping is the responsibility of the adopter. All horse shipped
with professional hauler will have a $30 halter and lead rope
fee.
All horses are to picked up and or shipped within 3 weeks of
adoption agreement or deposit made. After that there will be
a $9 per day board charge and after 1 month the animal is put
back up for adoption and the fee is considered a donation to
the rescue.
All horses that are going to be boarded are required to have
the boarding facility sign and return a boarding contract.
Special arrangements can be made and EPONA will work with
each adopter to get their horses home.
A representative of EPONA Horse Rescue must be able to
verify the location and care of the horse on a regular basis for
the first 1-5 years after adoption. This will be case by case as
to the actual timeframe. If at any time if we feel that the
horse is NOT being properly cared for , we reserve the right to
immediately recind the adoption and transport the horse back
to our facilities. The adopter will NOT be reimbursed for the
adoption fee.
If at any time during the adoption process or during the set
time of 1-5 years after the adoption contract is signed EPONA
and the directors can void the adoption if at this time , EPONA
personal feel that there is a danger to the horse , by lack of
care, training or disregard for safety of either the horse or
persons involved with the horse. At that time the adoption will
become null and void and the horse will become/remain the
property of EPONA.
