Mudball's STALL
On March 20th 2007 Epona and other rescues went to a feedlot in
Filley, Nebraska. Waiting to be shipped to slaughter were over 250
horses, many pregnant mares and senior horses. In a back lot we
met a tall gentle OTTB gelding called Mudball. It was love at first
sight. He was 21 at the time and filthy, skinny with the saddest
brown eyes I ever saw. Mudball came home to Epona where he
became King and was ruler of the herd. Young ones learned their
manners and the were safe under his care,
Mudball was my friend, he had lived a very long time and was
betrayed by the ones he served. MudBall passed over Rainbow
Bridge on January 19,2009. He is missed and in his honor we are
establishing Mudballs Stall a fund to help Sanctuary the senior
and disabled horses that have served mankind. At the end of their
lives these wonderful horses should have a safe haven not a
feedlot and a ride to slaughter, or a slow death in a field forgotten
and hungry..
